Another Silent Night

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs and the first Christmas Carol I learned to play on the guitar way back in the 80s. It is a lovely and simple melody and a fun guitar song. First composed in 1818 by Austrian composer, Franz Xaver Gruber, Silent Night is one of the most widely performed and recorded Christmas Carols of all time and works well as both an instrumental or vocal arrangement. According to Wikipedia, Bing Crosby’s version is the third-best selling single of all time, and this sweet song was sung simultaneously in both English and German by British and German troops during the Christmas Truce of 1914 during WWI, because it was one carol that both sides on the front lines knew. I find that bit of trivia more than a little moving and inspirational, and it helps reassure me that music is a magical and powerful force that has the ability to move the soul and bring about peaceful and positive energy to anyone willing to listen.

We hope you enjoy this version and find Peace, Joy and Happiness this Holiday Season, and may you continue into the next year with a peaceful heart. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Big Hugs and Lots of Love from our Home to yours!

I always look forward to your latest music. This one is an “oldey” but a “goodey” and very well done! Thinking of your family and knowing your first without her will be tough. Hugs to your Dad and Merry Christmas to all.
